As part of the ‘Da Nang Beach Tourism Season 2023’ programme, the festival was jointly organised by the Management Board of the Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourist Beaches, and kite clubs in Da Nang and Hoi An.
Running on April 28 and 29, this year’s festival sees the participation of more than 100 kites, including 60 large-sized kites, all bringing a colourful space for Da Nang beaches.
In addition to domestic kite clubs, this year’s event has the participation of kite clubs from foreign countries, including the Skyline Kite team from Thailand and the Flobamora Kite Club from Indonesia. These clubs bring to Da Nang beaches kites of all sizes, shapes and colours, contributing to creating a highlight for Da Nang beaches during this year's national holidays for April 30 and May 1.
Aside from aerodynamic kites, there are 20 flute kites. According to information provided from the participating teams, the 50m-long dragon-shaped kite from the Indonesian club is the longest of its kind during the festival. Meanwhile, Thailand's snake-modelled kite brings uniqueness and impression to beachgoers.
In addition, there are kites with the shapes of dolphins, crabs, squids, octopuses, and national flags from Da Nang-based kite clubs.
