The National Beach Handball Championship 2023 is taking place at a beach near Da Nang’s East Sea Park until May 16.

Co-organised by the Viet Nam Handball Federation and the municipal Department of Culture and Sports, the tournament sees the participation of nearly 100 athletes from Binh Dinh, Ho Chi Minh City, Ha Noi and Da Nang.

Teams divided into groups compete in a round-robin format in two events for men and women.

At the end of the group stages, the first-place teams will meet the fourth-placed teams, and the second-placed teams will face the third-placed teams in the semi-finals. The winning teams in the semi-finals will enter the finals.

After the opening ceremony, the match between Da Nang (in purple T-shirt) and Ha Noi took place fiercely and attractively.

The National Beach Handball Championship is held annually, aiming at improving the quality of the beach handball training and competition movements nationwide, as well as recruiting talents into the national team in preparation for international tournaments.

In Da Nang, recent years have witnessed a strong development of beach handball movement. Many handball clubs and teams have been established, maintaining training and competitions to improve professional skills.
