Artistes from the Da Nang-based Nguyen Hien Dinh Tuong Theatre won one first and one second prizes at the 2023 National Traditional Musical Instrument Solo and Orchestra Competition.

The information was released at the closing and awards ceremony for the competition which took place in Thai Binh Province on Wednesday. 

Specifically, the first prize went to artiste Tran Quoc Cong for the sona trumpet solo performance ‘Khuc Khai Truong, Manh Luong Bat Ngua’, and the theatre's orchestra won the second prize for the Tuong suite.

The aforementioned achievements were the honour and pride of the theatre’s artistes, giving more motivation to them to continue to keep their love for Tuong and to promote the value of ethnic music in their lives.

The 2023 National Traditional Musical Instrument Solo and Orchestra Competition was jointly organised by the Department of Performing Arts, the Viet Nam Musicians Association and other relevant agencies.

The competition attracted the participation of nearly 1,500 artistes from 37 art troupes across the country.

As a result, the organisers awarded two excellence prizes to the orchestra conductor and main musician, as well as 30 first, 51 second and 12 third prizes for good quality performances.
