Nearly 600 athletes compete in National Youth Badminton Championships 2023
The National Youth Badminton Championships 2023 was officially opened at Da Nang’s Tuyen Son Sports Arena on Monday.
Co-organised by the Viet Nam Badminton Federation (VBF) and the Da Nang Department of Culture and Sports, this year’s event attracts a total of nearly 600 badminton players of 41 teams from provinces and cities nationwide, namely Ho Chi Minh City, Ministry of Public Security, Ca Mau, Da Nang, Dong Nai, Dong Thap, Gia Lai, Ha Noi, Hai Duong, Hai Phong, Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong, Ninh Binh, Phu Yen, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Quang Ninh, Tay Ninh, Thai Binh, Thanh Hoa, Thua Thien Hue and Tien Giang.
The contestants are divided into five age groups: under 10, 11, 13, 15 and 17 years old. They compete in a round-robin format, and in the categories of men’s and women’s singles and doubles, and mixed doubles.
Through the tournament, the organisers will select excellent athletes to join the national youth badminton team and compete in international tournaments.
The tournament runs until June 25.
