Co-organised by the Da Nang Department of Tourism and the Nguyen Hien Dinh Tuong Theatre, Tuong street performances have been usually organised in public holidays and festive occasions for many years.
Accordingly, local residents and visitors have been treated to popular Tuong extracts closely associated with the daily life of the people of Quang Nam and Da Nang in particular, and Viet Nam in general.
On the night of June 25, Tuong performances drew much attention from a lot of visitors, especially young people. A number of Tuong extracts performed by artistes from the Nguyen Hien Dinh Tuong Theatre were introduced to the audience, including ‘Ong Gia Cong Vo Di Xem Hoi’ (Old Man Carries His Wife Piggyback to The Spring Festival), and ‘Doi Hon Dat Ky’ (Changing the soul of Dat Ky).
23-year-old Hieu Ngan, residing in Son Tra District, said such Tuong performances not only brought fun to the elderly, but also helped young people experience and understand more about the unique Vietnamese theatrical genre.
In addition, visitors were introduced to Tuong mask drawing art and dress codes, and they had the opportunity to have their photos taken in Tuong costumes, which were available for rent at reasonable prices.
