Photo exhibition spreading the meaning of Dien Bien Phu Victory opens in Da Nang through July 3

A photo exhibition themed 'Dien Bien Phu - A rendezvous for history, culture and tourism' was officially opened at the Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture on Friday.

Co-organised by the museum, the Dien Bien Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism ad the Da Nang Department of Culture and Sports, the exhibition features four parts with a combined total of 180 photos, and publications and documents, about Dien Bien Province's tourism.

Specifically, the first part entitled 'Cultural colours of ethnic minorities in Dien Bien Province' has 50 photos introducing the residence, production and labour activities, food culture, costumes and culture of ethnic minorities in the province.

A combined total of 50 photos in the second part 'Dien Bien Phu Campaign' showcase the progress of the campaign from March 13, 1954 to May 7, 1954. Prominent among them are photos of the fierce battles, and Vietnamese soldiers who had great contribution to the Dien Bien Phu Victory.

Besides, there are photos introducing the plan of the French army when occupying and building the Dien Bien Phu fortress group, as well as wise and ingenious strategic decisions of the Party and the High Command of the Dien Bien Phu Campaign.

The third part 'Historical, cultural and scenic site' with 50 photos and the fourth part 'The conservation and promotion of cultural heritage in Dien Bien Province' with 30 photos introduce the public to the national-level special national monument Dien Bien Phu Battlefield, some typical activities and destinations in the province, and the restoration, embellishment and promotion of relic values in the province.

The purpose of the exhibition is to introduce to the people of Da Nang in particular and tourists in general the vital role and meaning of the 1954 Dien Bien Phu Victory, thereby educating the young generation to promote the patriotic tradition, fight to protect the national independence, and advertise the beauty of the land, culture, people and tourism development potentials of Dien Bien Province.

The exhibition runs until the end of July 3.
