South Korean guitar prodigy Jung Sung-ha with acoustic fingerstyle will perform live in Viet Nam this month. His Viet Nam tour is slated to feature three performances on July 14 at the Youth Theater in the capital city of Ha No); July 15 at VOH Music One Theatre in the southern metropolis of Ho Chi Minh City and July 16 at Nguyen Hien Dinh Tuong (Classic Drama) Theatre in Da Nang.

This is the first time Sungha Jung's tour in Viet Nam has three shows; contribute to enhancing cultural exchanges between Viet Nam and South Korea.

The programme promises to be an attractive cultural and artistic event for the music-loving public. This is also the first time Sungha Jung covers Vietnamese music on her YouTube channel - the hit song "See love", which is proving hugely popular and been covered by many Asian celebrities, by female Vietnamese singer Hoang Thuy Linh.

As an excellent representative of the fingerstyle guitar line, the 27-year-old Sungha Jung promises to bring the audience a new, youthful, sophisticated and emotional musical space with his compositions and arrangements.

Fingerstyle Guitar (FS) is a new genre of solo guitar music which originated from the US and known in Viet Nam in recent years. Outstandingly, the genre allows a single performer to play as if an entire band. It is a complete break in technique, hand position, visualisation of the sound that a guitar can bring.

FS is creativity at the highest level and players are free to create completely new techniques, hand positions, express their own skills.

Having mastered the guitar since the age of 10, Sungha Jung was dubbed as the ‘Korean guitar prodigy’ and soon became famous, especially on YouTube with nearly 2 billion views and 7.1 million followers. Out of the 15 awards he has won on YouTube, there are 6 "No.1" awards.

His music easily captivates people and among them is the cover of the soundtrack of ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ that attracts the most attention with 64 million views. Sungha Jung has been invited to collaborate with many famous Korean and international artists.

With Vietnamese audiences, Sungha Jung has been known and admired mainly through music on YouTube for more than 15 years. He is the first foreign fingerstyle guitarist to tour Viet Nam.

The programme’s organisers hope to attract more audiences to this new guitar line, bring art closer to the public, contribute to the development of a healthy cultural environment, and give society an high value art entertainment choice.
