200 artworks of artist Le Ba Dang being brought to Da Nang
A group consisting of representives from the Da Nang Department of Culture and Sports and the municipal Fine Arts Museum has arrived in France to receive a collection of artist Le Ba Dang.
The collection comprises more than 200 artifacts, including sculptures, prints, oil and watercolour paintings, laser machine-engraved wooden models, and many memorabilia, all donated by Mr. Le Tat Luyen and Mrs. Thuy Khue.
These artifacts are transported to Viet Nam by plane. It is expected that the collection will be handed over to the Da Nang Fine Arts Museum in late August 2023.
Painter Le Ba Dang was born in 1921 into a Confucian family in Bich La Dong Village, Trieu Dong Commune, Trieu Phong District, Quang Tri Province. In 1948, he graduated from the Toulouse School of Fine Arts in France. His graduation painting is being kept at the Saint-Augustine Museum, Toulouse. Since 1950, he has started to organise painting exhibitions and has increasingly become famous in Europe, America, Japan and other foreign countries.
During his career, he has received many awards and noble titles such as Artist of Clone (The International Institute of Saint-Louis, the USA,1989), Master of Creativity (1990), Picasso Viet Nam (1991), and Order of Literature and Art (France, 1992).
There is now the Le Ba Dang Memory Space in Hue City which was inaugurated in 2006.
Artist Le Ba Dang died in 2015 in Paris, at the age of 94.
