Da Nang sent two coaches Tran Van Long (canoing) and Tong Huu Dung (rowing), along with 6 athletes, namely Tran Thi Anh Tuyet (taekwondo), Tran Le Tien Dat (karate), Hien Nam (canoeing), and Pham Thi Hue, Nguyen Lam Kieu Diem and Tran Thi Kiet (rowing) to ASIAD19.

Among them, rowers Pham Thi Hue, Nguyen Lam Kieu Diem and Tran Thi Kiet brought home 3 bronze medals in the category of rowing.

Pham Thi Hue and her teammates in the national rowing team won the first bronze medal for the Vietnamese sports delegation at ASIAD19 in the women's coxless fours event. After that, she continued with Nguyen Lam Kieu Diem, Tran Thi Kiet and other teammates to claim the bronze medal in the women's coxless eights event.

Before ASIAD 19, at SEA Games 31, Hue did not disappoint Vietnamese fans when she and other teammates pocketed 3 gold medals in rowing in women’s rowing events, namely heavyweight single scull in the women's pair, heavyweight double sculls in women's four and women’s single.

During her career, Hue pocketed a gold medal and a silver medal at SEA Games 26 in 2011, two silvers at ASIAD in 2013, two golds at SEA Games 28 in 2015, a silver at SEA Games 30 in 2019. She has twice won tickets to Olympic.

Pham Thi Hue said the bronze medal at ASIAD19 was not the best achievement she has won in the Asian Games, but it was the result of her constant efforts.

“I am proud of the achievement and hope the noble medals inspire the young generation, including young athletes from Da Nang, to try their best and gain more successes in the future” she said.

Hue revealed that, after ASIAD19, she is now preparing for the 2023 National Rowing Championships which is slated to take place in Hai Phong from November 9 - 14.

Like Pham Thi Hue, after ASIAD19, Nguyen Lam Kieu Diem and Tran Thi Kiet are working hard in preparation for the upcoming National Rowing Championships 2023. Both are 23 years old and are potential athletes of Da Nang’s rowing sector.

According to Mr. Tong Huu Dung, Head of the boat rowing Department at the Da Nang Athlete Training and Coaching Centre, the city’s rowing sector has reaped many proud successes in recent years. These successes show the city's great care as well as the athletes' constant efforts.

In the coming time, outstanding members of the city's rowing team will be selected to compete in important tournaments, aiming for the highest goal to affirm the position of Da Nang’s rowing sector.
