In the city, there are currently more than 30 Vovinam clubs. Among them, the Vovinam Son Nam Club in Hai Chau District is one of the clubs with the largest number of members.

Tran Van Hung, a trainee of the club, said that Vovinam is a martial art suitable for many ages. Vovinam involves the use of different body parts such as hands, elbows, legs and knees. Practicing the style of martial arts helps players improve their health, flexibility, and agility.

Currently, the club has nearly 100 trainees who practice regularly every day in the afternoon.

Meanwhile, Karate is one of the most popular styles of martial art in Viet Nam.

According to Mr. Le Hoang Trinh, coach of the Karate Club at the Da Nang University of Physical Education and Sports, the club currently has more than 150 members of different ages.

Thanks to its convenient facilities, the club has become a reliable address for parents to send their children to study and practice. After a period of practice, many trainees gradually have a passion for this martial art and stick with the club for a long time, he noted.

In order for the movement of practicing and competing in martial arts to be effective, the city has established martial arts federations. These federations regularly organise tournaments, aiming to facilitate club members to compete and improve their performance skills.

In particular, on October 13 and 14, the Da Nang Taekwondo Federation hosted the Taekwondo Tournament for the Sunny Korea Cup 2023.

This year’s tournament attracts the participation of nearly 170 taekwondo martial artists from 20 clubs in the city, namely Doan Ket, Pham Phu Thu, Bao Minh, Hong Bang, Hong Quang, Hong Tri Dung, Hong Gia Khanh, Bach Dang, Ngo Gia Tu, Thuan Phuoc, Tan Chinh, Hoa Phuoc DHTC, Hanul, An Hai Bac, Son Tra High Schools Taekwondo, Seung Ri, Hai Lien Hoa, Anh Chi, To Vinh Dien and Cam Le.

Mr. Duong Le Quoc Linh, the Vice Chairman of the municipal Taekwondo Federation cum Head of the tournament's organising board, said that Taekwondo is not only a martial art but also a means of education and self-training to improve patience and confidence.

According to Mr. Tran Cong Tu, Director of the city’s Fitness and Sports Centre, in the future, the city's sports industry will continue to organise large-scale martial arts championships with the aim to promote the development of this sports, and select excellent athletes for the city’s martial arts teams to compete in national and international tournaments.
