Strongly developing cultural industries
In his closing speech delivered at the national teleconference on the development of the cultural industries in Viet Nam on Friday, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated remarkable results that the country’s cultural industries have gained over the past year.

He remarked legal mechanisms and policies related to cultural industries have been supplemented and improved in accordance with the new situation and context.
The Government leader highlighted the progress of cultural industries, with contributions to the national GDP increasing to 4.04% in 2022 from 3.92% in 2021.
He noted that cultural industry products in all fields (music, painting, literature, theater, cinema...) are increasingly diverse and rich, meeting better the needs of the public. Among them are many high value products, thereby creating a reputation at both home and abroad.
However, Prime Minister Chinh underlined that the development of cultural industries has yet to match the potential, pointing out a number of reasons, including inefficient mechanisms and policies, inadequate investment and a lack of high quality human resources.
Therefore, he stressed the need for higher determination, stronger efforts and more effective actions from ministries, sectors, localities and organisations to promote the growth of cultural industries, increasing their contributions to the country’s GDP by 2030.
Mr. Chinh asked centrally governed cities and provinces to promote regional and local linkages in developing, exploiting and trading cultural industry products and services. The focus should be on building typical local cultural products and services, as well as associating them with tourism and boosting the development of the night-time economy.
He also urged particular ministries, sectors and localities to propose mechanisms and policies in the field, including those to encourage investment and public-private partnership in the industries.
Chairing Da Nang's broadcasting bridge point, municipal People’s Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh informed that the city has paid attention to reviewing, adjusting and perfecting mechanisms and policies for developing cultural industries.
In addition, the city directed relevant departments and agencies to develop socialisation policies in the cultural field to create preferential mechanisms in terms of capital, taxes and land, aiming to encourage businesses to actively boost the growth of the cultural industries and develop national cultural identity.
Also at the same time, the city laid emphasis on expanding the focus from tourism and digital technology to other aspects such as cinema, performing arts and music. Efforts were made to encourage private funding of cultural industries, especially information technology, innovative startups and cultural infrastructure development projects.
To continue promoting cultural industries, the municipal People's Committee assigned a specialised research agency to carry out the project "Development of cultural industries in Da Nang until 2030".
Under the project, priority is given to the development of industries with many advantages and potential, especially cultural tourism in the context of the city's orientation towards a city of events and festivals.
Besides, importance is attached to enhance the application of new technologies in a number of key industries in a bid to create quality cultural and artistic products that can participate in the international market.
In addition, efforts are made to ensure that cultural industry goes hand in hand with building and perfecting cultural markets in all fields.
