Hundreds of low-income worker families took part in the 2024 Spring Festival 2024 at the OneSky Da Nang Early Childhood Care and Education Centre (called OneSky Centre for short) on Sunday.

During the festival themed ‘Green Tet’, the centre’s children and their parents together joined a number of fascinating activities such as wrapping ‘banh chung’ (square glutinous rice cake), ‘nhay sap’ (dance with bamboo poles), tug of war, calligraphy, and making ‘to he’ (toy figurines), going to the market, and enjoying rustic cuisine through traditional Vietnamese cakes.

Also, there was a stall exchanging trash for green trees, attracting the response of many families. Besides, many food stalls used banana leaves to make small bowls to contain food for shoppers.

Not only children, parents and adults also immersed themselves in the joyful and bustling atmosphere of the festival, espcially folk games.

Present at the festival from 6:00 am, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Tuong, a worker of the Hoa Khanh Industrial Park, said his family was looking forward to the festival.

“Every year my family goes to the Spring Festival. This is not only an opportunity for children to have fun and learn about the traditional Tet beauty of their ancestors in the past, but also for their parents to meet and connect between family members” Mr. Tuong said.

Aside from fun activities, OneSky Centre donated 41 gifts to its pupils in particularly difficult circumstances; and 86 gifts to poor households with disabled and elderly people citywide. Each gift was worth from VND400,000 - VND500,000.

In addition, the Centre presented ‘banh chung’ to all pupils studying at the centre and organised a loving clothing stall with the hope of partly sharing the difficulties with families of poor workers during the coming Tet.

It is known that OneSky Centre has been operating since 2017 as a place to care for, nurture and educate children of workers and employees.

The centre was born under the cooperation of the NGO OneSky and the People's Committee of Da Nang with the aim to create opportunities for children of poor workers to access an international educational environment and have opportunities to develop their potential abilities.
