Cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers in Viet Nam are given five consecutive days off for the Reunification Day (April 30) and International Workers’ Day (May 1) holiday in 2024.

The break is a favourable time for tourists to travel. Therefore, Da Nang has a wide variety of entertaining options for tourists at both home and abroad, and for those who are afraid of a long and tiring trip for the forthcoming five-day holiday.

Many activities and events will be organized to serve residents and tourists during the forthcoming.

Opening of sea tourism season

One of the highlights of the holiday will be the Brazil - Viet Nam Football Festival 2024 scheduled to take place on April 27 and 28.

Notably, Brazilian football legends including Dunga, Rivaldo, Lucio, Edmilson, Kleber, Giovani, Zé Carlos, and Paulo Sergio will land in Da Nang for the forthcoming festival. The legends will play a friendly match with Vietnamese football stars on the afternoon of April 27 at the 20,000-seat Hoa Xuan Stadium. The presence of the renowned Brazilian footballers will greatly contribute to promoting the images of Da Nang and Viet Nam as a whole to all four corners of the earth.

In addition, the opening programme for the 2024 Da Nang Beach Tourism Season themed "Summer Waves" will be held at local beaches from April 26 - May 1.

In particular, the opening ceremony of the programme will be organised on April 27. The Da Nang Artistic Kite Flying Festival, with the performances of 30-50 large and small-sized kites will last from April 27 - 29.

The Sand Sculpture Contest, slated for April 26 - May 1, is expected to become a new check-in point for both residents and tourists.

There will be a wide range of popular beach games, such as the performances of jetski, parachute, and banana boats (April 27); a swimming competition entitled "Crossing the waves in Da Nang summer 2024" (April 28); a SUP race (April 28); the Da Nang International Lifeguard Competition 2024 (April 27); a beach soccer competition (April 26); and a series of entertainment activities at the My An nighttime beach (April 26 - May 1).

Additionally, tourist attractions citywide plan to offer many outstanding activities to lure more visitors. The Nui Than Tai Hot Spring Park will organize such events as performances of ‘bai choi’, the show "Jurassic Secrets - Wonders of birds and animals", and the programme "Childhood summer". Besides, the park will expand the dinosaur park; and put into operation many new items such as bird garden, love forest, and picnic area.

Similarly, the Sun World Ba Na Hills Tourist Area will offer a variety of unique and attractive shows like puppet shows.

Since April 15, ground and water puppet shows have been performed in the Fantasy Park and at the Moonlight Square, with 2 performances per day (except Thursday) at 2:30 pm and 4:00 pm.

The show "Aurora Parade" honouring the noble beauty of the Sun God officially "reappears" with 2 daily performances (except Tuesday) at 12:00 - 12:30pm and 3:30pm - 4:00pm.

At the Asia Park, there will be lion and dragon dance performances on the evening of April 27 and 28; and modern and contemporary dance shows at the Sun Wheel stage on the evening of April 30.

Contribute to attracting customers

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thien, Deputy Director of the Hai Van Cat International Travel Company, said that aside from Da Nang's available tourism products, festivals and events held during the holidays will contribute to increasing attraction for local destinations. They are considered a plus point of Da Nang during the summer. After participating in the main attractions, visitors are introduced to the activities and events of the Opening Programme of the Da Nang Beach Tourism Season to increase their experiences in the city.

However, Mr. Thien also stressed the need for the city to increase promotion of the festival's activities and events to its neighboring localities to attract more tourists.

Sharing the same opinion, Chairman of the Da Nang Tourism Association Cao Tri Dung said that the organisation of the abovementioned events and festivals during the forthcoming holiday have created a bustling and vibrant picture for the city, creating more products and increasing experiences for visitors.

He predicted that Da Nang will see a slight increase in the international tourist numbers during the upcoming holiday, whilst domestic visitors are forecast to be equal or slightly increase compared to last year’s holiday.

He said that the reason is due to the shortage of aircrafts although Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air have increased flights. However, the April 30 and May 1 holiday is quite long, so many tourists choose to come to Da Nang via road or railway.

To attract more visitors to the city, the local tourism industry has launched stimulus programmes with many incentives. Specifically, more than 10,000 free vouchers and discounts, totalling about VND5 billion are now available for tourists. In particular, 2,000 free tickets for the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival 2024 will be given to those who register to buy Da Nang’s tourism services/products on online platforms (Kkday and Traveloka), on the programme’s website at https://danangticket.com/, and social network sites of Da Nang tourism; or participate in minigames/lucky spins at information counters at domestic and international arrival terminals at Da Nang International Airport or at the Da Nang Tourist Support Centres. Also, gifts will go to the first 100 couples who choose Da Nang to hold their wedding celebrations/wedding anniversaries/honeymoons.

Director of the municipal Department of Tourism Truong Thi Hong Hanh highly appreciated the efforts of the business community over the past time, which has continuously strived to improve the quality of services for tourists, bringing them the best products and experiences.

Importance should be attached to promoting existing strengths, constantly improving service quality, developing corporate brand, and closely coordinating with the Department of Tourism to advertise the images of the city and lure more customers to the city, she added.
