Aside from eye-catching and colourful fireworks displays, Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2024 promises to bring the audience unique and majestic art shows performed by domestic and international artists, thereby leaving unforgettable memories in the hearts of people and tourists.

Unique arts programmes

DIFF 2024, themed "Made in Unity - Global Connection - Radiant five continents", will take place from June 8 - July 13 with five nights of performances by teams from Da Nang (Viet Nam), France, the USA, Italy, Germany, Poland, China, and Finland.

Each performance night has a different theme.

In particular, the festival will officially kick off on the evening of June 8 with the opening performances between Team Da Nang-Viet Nam and Team France with the theme ‘Made of Unique Culture’.

The second night on the evening of June 15 will see a competition between Italy and the US with the theme ‘Made of Natural Wisdom’.

The third night under the theme ‘Made of Love Inspiration’ will take place on the evening of June 22 with the participation of Germany and Poland.

The fourth night on the evening of June 29 will be a competition between China and Finland under the theme ‘Made of Fairy Tales’.

The grand finale will take place on the evening of July 13 with the theme ‘Made of Young Generation’.

In addition, the arts programmes will be staged according to the themes of competition nights, ensuring harmony between the on-stage arts programmes and the "light parties" in the sky.

Notably, arts programmes during the opening and closing nights of the festival will be hosted by Sun Group with the participation of a group of famous domestic and international artistes.

To date, Sun Group has completed the programme framework, sent it to the municipal Department of Culture and Sports for quality appraisal.

There will be an impressive fireworks performance on Jetski on the Han River on the opening night of DIFF 2024, aimed at increasing the attractiveness and novelty of the programme.

Like last year’s festival, the Trung Vuong Theatre will be in charge of the arts programmes during the remaining three competition nights, and the funding for them will come from the city’s budget. Therefore, the city leaders require the theatre to maximize its sense of responsibility and create new and unique arts programmes in a bid to promote the image of Da Nang to domestic and international friends.

Deputy Head of Event and Performance Organisation Office of the Trung Vuong Theater Pham Thi Lan Anh said that about 40-50 singers will be mobilized to perform for the three nights, an increase of nearly 20 people against last year.

In addition to DIFF 2024, the theater's artistes will serve the 13^th ASEAN School Games. Therefore, the theater is currently actively practicing and actively coordinating Sun Group and relevant units in preparation for the forthcoming events.

Turning banks of Han River into an art space

One of the factors that help arts performances become more spectacular and unique is the main stage. Therefore, it can also be said that the way of designing, decorating and constructing the main stage is also a marvelous work of installation art.

According to DIFF’s organizers, the main stage measures about 1,260 m² in width, 20% larger than in 2023. The most prominent feature of the DIFF 2024 stage is the large lift table system in the middle of the stage combined with the lighting system, thereby creating a unique, multi-dimensional art performance space.

The main stage’s lighting system has been upgraded with modern lifting light gantry technology, which can be flexibly raised and lowered to provide the most beautiful views of the entire fireworks display area.

The center of the main stage is the image of hands reaching out and grasping each other, creating a large, strong, creative highlight. This image also symbolizes fireworks shooting up in the sky, creating a festive atmosphere, excitement and expectation. In this way, the DIFF main stage is not only a performance venue, but also a living symbol of solidarity and creative spirit, and the hope for the future.

According to Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Culture and Sports Ha Vy, DIFF 2024 is expected to have 34 accompanying activities, a rise of 6 compared to 2023. The most highlights will include a jetski-flyboard-art-performance, DIFF2024 quiz competition, a random dance Kpop programme, a playground for children in the summer, a Water Fest, and a programme to chill with the youth.

Currently, relevant units are developing plans and organizational funding based on the annual budget and socialization sources to ensure the quality of activities, contributing to the overall success of DIFF 2024.
