Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Le Trung Chinh chaired a meeting on Monday to recheck the preparatory works for the forthcoming Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2024.

He acknowledged and highly appreciated relevant agencies, departments, units and businesses for their great efforts in preparing for DIFF 2024. He asked them to uphold high sense of responsibility in ensuring the success of the upcoming festival, with a focus on security and order, food hygiene and safety, media information, and price stabilisation.  

According to the municipal Department of Culture and Sports, DIFF 2024, themed "Made in Unity - Global Connection - Radiant five continents", will take place from June 8 - July 13.

The festival will officially kick off on the evening of June 8 with the opening performances between Team Da Nang-Viet Nam and Team France with the theme ‘Made of Unique Culture’.

The second night on the evening of June 15 will see a competition between Italy and the US with the theme ‘Made of Natural Wisdom’.

The third night under the theme ‘Made of Love Inspiration’ will take place on the evening of June 22 with the participation of Germany and Poland.

The fourth night on the evening of June 29 will be a competition between China and Finland under the theme ‘Made of Fairy Tales’.

The grand finale will take place on the evening of July 13 with the theme ‘Made of Young Generation’.

During this year’s festival, the grandstands will still be installed on the sidewalk of Tran Hung Dao Street with a capacity of 50,870 seats/5 nights, an increase of 32,410 seats against 2023. The installation of the grandstands is expected to complete before May 30.

This year’s festival is expected to have 8 participating teams, including 7 international teams from France, Italy, the USA, Germany, Poland, China and Finland, and the Da Nang-Viet Nam team.

Currently, the Da Nang-Viet Nam home team is preparing for their display which is expected to be completed on May 15.

The installation of sound and lighting systems is predicted to be completed before May 30.

Aside from the main stage, there will be four sound clusters along the main routes. In particular, the first cluster will be opposite the intersection of Dong Da - Bach Dang - February 3 streets, the second at the T-bridge on Bach Dang Street opposite the new Da Nang Museum, the third at the grandstand B1 to Han River Bridge on Tran Hung Dao Street, and the last one at the grandstand B2.

The art programmes to be performed on the opening and closing nights, and the second, third and fourth competition nights, have been assigned to relevant units.

Notably, there will be an impressive fireworks performance on Jetski on the Han River on the opening night of DIFF 2024, aimed at increasing the attractiveness and novelty of the programme.

DIFF 2024 is expected to have 40 accompanying activities, a rise of 12 compared to 2023. The most highlights will include a jetski-flyboard-art-performance, DIFF2024 quiz competition, a random dance Kpop programme, a playground for children in the summer, a Water Fest, and a programme to chill with the youth.
