Nearly 170 athletes compete in Da Nang Traditional Martial Arts Youth Championship 2024
The Da Nang Traditional Martial Arts Youth Championship 2024 opened at the city’s Taekwondo gymnasium on Wednesday.

The event draws about 170 athletes from traditional martial arts clubs across the city, including Thuong Thao, Vo Duong Sinh Ton, Pham Hong Thai, Shaolin Nam Phai Bach Ho, Dong Son Vo Dao, To Vinh Dien, Hoa Xuan, Nguyen Duy Trinh, Doan Thi Diem, Hoa Khanh Nam, Lien Chieu, Thanh Khe, Ngu Hanh Son, Tran Dai Nghia, Hoa Chau, Hoang Long, and Phi Ung Quyen.
The athletes compete in boxing and fighting events for men and women according to weight class and three age groups of 12 - 15 years old, 16 - 18 years old, and over 18 years old.
In particular, the fighting content is played in a one-loss knockout format.
The tournament lasts until May 24. At the end of the tournament, the organising committee will give 42 sets of medals to outstanding athletes, including 42 gold, 42 silver and 70 bronze medals.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan, Chairman of the Da Nang Traditional Martial Arts Federation, traditional martial arts is not only a sport but also a symbol of the intelligence, strength and resilient will of the nation.
The tournament provides the good opportunity for martial artists to show off their talents; as well as exchange, learn, preserve and promote the good values of traditional martial arts.
Outstanding athletes will be selected for the city’s professional team in preparation for the 2024 National Phu Dong Sports Game slated in July in Hai Phong City.
