Following the success of the previous two events, this year’s BRG Open Golf Championship Da Nang, a tournament of the Asian Development Tour in Viet Nam, is scheduled to take place from August 29 - 31 with the participation of 144 professional golfers at both home and abroad. The event is expected to attract high-quality visitors to the city.

According to the municipal Department of Tourism, the BRG Open Golf Championship Da Nang is one of the initiatives and cooperative efforts of the parties to promote golf tourism and restore the post-pandemic tourism economy.

Currently, Da Nang boasts many high-class golf courses, so golf tourism is determined to have an important position in the strategy of specialised market segmentation.

In the first half of 2024, the total number of golf rounds of three golf courses in Da Nang reached 88,502, an increase of more than 4,000 rounds compared to the same period in 2023 (84,327 rounds), and the Legend Danang Golf Resort course dominated with more than 59,000 rounds.

Golf tourism is drawing a lot of attention from domestic and international tourist markets and has become a highlight in many MICE (Meetings, Conferences, Incentives, and Events) tourism programmes, especially large-scale ones with high requirements for professionalism and difference.

Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hoai An, Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Tourism, remarked that the success of the two previous golf tournaments has significantly contributed to affirming Da Nang's position as “Asia's Leading Festival and Event Destination”.

This year's golf tournament is one of a series of events and festivals that help lure more tourists to the city, especially high-quality visitors in line with the local tourism development orientation. This type of visitors not only participates in sports activities but also seeks cooperation and investment opportunities in Da Nang.

Mr. Mark Reeves, Deputy General Director of BRG Group, said that sponsoring the BRG Open Golf Championship Da Nang 2024 was an important part of the group's strategy with the goal of elevating Da Nang to become a leading golf tourism destination in the region and the world. Through this tournament, Vietnamese golfers will have the opportunity to compete directly with the region's top talents to clearly define their path to professional golf.

According to the municipal Department of Tourism, the Government-approved Tourism Development Strategy by 2030 identifies the infrastructure and product development for golf tourism as one of main trends that will help bolster the growth of the country’s tourism industry.

Accordingly, Da Nang has taken the lead in this trend by building its brand and organising annual golf festivals and golf tournaments. The development of golf tourism not only helps diversify products and enhance tourism competitiveness but also attracts domestic and international visitors with high spending capacity.
