On Friday evening, the Da Nang People’s Committee organised an art programme to celebrate the 79^th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19), and the National Day of Viet Nam (September 2) with the theme ‘Love for the Country’, in combination with the inauguration of the project of upgrading the Peace Monument and expanding the March 29 Square in Hoa Cuong Bac Ward, Hai Chau District.

In attendance at the event were Da Nang Party Committee Secretary cum Head of the National Assembly Deputies’ Delegation of Da Nang Nguyen Van Quang; Standing Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee Nguyen Dinh Vinh; Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Le Trung Chinh; Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Council Ngo Xuan Thang; Chairman of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang Le Van Trung; Standing Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Council Tran Phuoc Son.

Addressing the event, Chairman Chinh emphasised that over the past 30 years, the Da Nang Peace Monument has been one of the city's symbols that represents the fine tradition of “When drinking water, remember its source”, paying tribute to heroic martyrs. It is also a symbol of the indomitable spirit, rich in revolutionary traditions of the heroic land of Quang Nam - Da Nang.

The project has been implemented for more than two years with special attention and direction from the Da Nang leaders. The project shows off the sentiment, responsibility, efforts exerted by the Party Committee, government, people and businesses of Da Nang for its development.

The Da Nang administration chief acknowledged and thanked the units, organisations, individuals, departments and related units for having joined hands to complete this important project. This expressed the wish that the Da Nang Peace Monument and March 29 Square continue to be an attractive place to educate young generations about traditional values and the revolutionary spirit, thereby maintaining the spirit and good qualities of the people and land of Da Nang.

At the same time, it is a place for local residents and tourists to come to have fun and relax through many cultural and artistic activities, contributing to improving the spiritual life of the city’s dwellers.

The project, with a total investment of more than VND 212 billion funded by the city budget and donations from the whole community, started in 2022 and divided into two phases.

Phase 1 focused on upgrading the Da Nang Peace Monument, renewing its large relief, renovating the landscape and lighting system. Phase 2 highlighted technical infrastructure around the monument and the March 29 Square nearby, with an artistic fountain system being the highlight.

The art programme ‘Love for the Country’ was elaborately staged, divided into two chapters with 18 outstanding art performances. Chapter 1 expressed the profound love for the country, national pride, deep gratitude to previous generations who have devoted their lives and sacrificed to protect the independence of the Fatherland.

Chapter 2 is filled with cheerful, vibrant melodies, depicting the ideal life of today’s young generation, always living with beautiful dreams and hopes, firmly nurturing aspirations to make more contributions to the city’s development journey with a bright future.
