Improving spiritual and cultural life of Da Nang people
The cultural and artistic movement at the grassroots level is increasingly garnering the most interest from local authorities, so they are organised enthusiastically with diverse forms. The movement creates a healthy cultural environment, contributing to improving the spiritual life of the people and promoting the role of grassroots cultural institutions.

In late August 2024, the Thanh Khe District-based Culture and Sports Centre organised a mass art festival themed "Viet Nam - Ho Chi Minh" in commemoration of the 55th anniversary of the implementation of President Ho Chi Minh's Testament and National Day.
This festival saw the participation of 10 mass art teams from 10 wards in the district. All performances praised the glorious Party, great Uncle Ho, the homeland and the country on the path of renewal.
As a result, the Vinh Trung Ward’s art team won the first prize thanks for their elaborately choreographed performance featuring a harmonious combination of many art forms. The second prizes were shared by Hoa Khe and Xuan Ha wards, whilst the remaining wards got third and consolation prizes.
Deputy Director of Thanh Khe District-based Culture and Sports Centre Ho Thanh said that this festival aimed to boost the mass cultural and artistic movement at the grassroots level, contributing to improving the spiritual life of local residents. This was also an opportunity for the locality to discover and nurture talented individuals who will be the core of the mass cultural and artistic movement at the grassroots level. This, thereby, contributed to the implementation of the "Year of Urban Culture and Civilisation" and the 'City of 4 Safe' programme in Thanh Khe District.
As a locality with a strong mass artistic movement, since the beginning of the year, Hai Chau District has organised dozens of cultural and artistic programmes to serve locals and tourists.
In particular, since the Bach Dang walking street was officially inaugurated in June, Hai Chau District has strengthened connections and coordinated with units and enterprises to organise many attractive cultural and artistic activities with high community spirit, attracting the participation of a large number of people. Most of the performers in these activities are not professional artists, but are talented young people selected from competitions, festivals, and performances at ward and school levels in the area. Thanks to that, the activities become more intimate, fun, and keep the audience engaged.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thao from Hai Chau District shared “Every weekend, my family often visits the Bach Dang walking street to take a walk and listen to live music. The activities here are quite fun and interactive, and everyone can participate. It can be said that the Bach Dang walking street has been meeting the entertainment needs of the people very well”.
Recently, the city’s Culture and Cinema Centre has launched the Da Nang - Argentine Tango Club, bringing the total number of mass art clubs under the centre to nearly 30.
The Da Nang - Argentine Tango Club gathers more than 40 members who share the same interests and passion for dancing, especially Argentine tango.
According to Nguyen Cuong, Deputy Director of the city’s Culture and Cinema Centre, the establishment of the club aimed to create a healthy and useful playground for people of all age groups, contributing to enriching the art and entertainment forms in the city. The members of the club are trained by experts and dancers who have won high prizes in international dance competitions.
In addition to this club, the centre also has many other dance clubs, regularly performing on both sides of the Han River.
“Based on the increasing demand for participation and enjoyment of art among the people, the centre regularly searches for and brings in new art forms and performance forms according to the needs and interests of the people, and tango dancing is one of them. Hopefully, from the activities of the club, the dance movement in the city will develop widely in the coming time" said Mr. Cuong.
A cultural institution that has made a significant contribution to enriching the spiritual life of the people, especially workers, civil servants, and labourers citywide, is the Labour Culture House.
Over the past 15 years, the house has become a familiar address for many people in the city to enjoy art exchange and entertainment activities.
Director of the Labour Culture House Nguyen Thi Tuyet Nhung said that the unit currently has 26 cultural, artistic, and sports clubs with more than 1,000 members. The clubs regularly organise art programmes, competitions, festivals, and exchange activities with others in the city and neighbouring localities.
Since 2016, the Labour Culture House has coordinated with private enterprises to organise traditional art performances every night under the brand name Charming Danang, contributing to promoting the development of the city's culture and tourism industry.
At the end of July 2024, the municipal People's Council gave the green light to provide VND26 billion in funding for the project on building the Labour Cultural House in the eastern side of the city. This is a great source of motivation for the collective of the Labour Cultural House to continue to improve the quality of activities, and increasingly better meet the cultural enjoyment needs of the people.
