Co-organised by the municipal Department of Home Affairs and the Viet Nam National Archives Centre I, the event aims to celebrate the 79th anniversary of National Day of Viet Nam (September 2).

Initially, the exhibition took place from August 29 to September 6, but the organisers decided to extend the exhibition time until September 12 with the aim to create more opportunities for the public to visit.

Nearly 200 archival documents and photos are on display at the exhibition, many of which are published for the first time. These are collected from the Viet Nam National Archives Centres I, II, III and IV, the Da Nang Historical Archives Centre, libraries and museums.

The exhibition is in two parts: Da Nang then and now. In particular, the ‘Da Nang then’ space features documents and images from the times of the Nguyen Dynasty (1802-45) to 1975 about Dien Hai Citadel, Da Nang Port, and Da Nang's resistance war against the French-Spanish coalition forces.

Meanwhile, the ‘Da Nang now’ space introduces to viewers many images from the city’s liberation day in March 1975 to the present, especially providing archival documents about Da Nang in two stages: under Quang Nam - Da Nang Province and becoming a city directly-governed by the Central Government.

The exhibition helps the public have a panoramic view of the city from the past to the present, providing a source of documents of special value for historical research and the spiritual life of the people.

The exhibition receives a lot of attention from the public, especially young people.
