2024 Da Nang Youth Volleyball Tournament ends

The Da Nang Youth Volleyball Tournament in 2024 concluded on Sunday at the multi-purpose stadium of Tran Dai Nghia Junior High School based in Ngu Hanh Son District.

The event was jointly organised by the Viet Nam Youth Federation, the Da Nang Students’ Association, the Lammark Media JSC and the Da Nang Community Volleyball Club.

The tournament offered an attractive playground for youth union members, the youth working in the armed forces, and students studying at colleges and universities across the city.

Following the success of the previous two editions, this year’s tournament attracted nearly 500 athletes from 25 clubs competing in both men’s and women’s categories. In the men’s category, 16 teams were divided into four groups, playing a single round-robin format. The top two teams from each group advanced to the quarterfinals, semifinals, and final. Meanwhile, the women’s division featured nine teams divided into two groups, competing in a round-robin format to select the top two teams from each group for the semifinals and final.

After a week of exciting competition, in the men's category, the city’s Department of Public Security and the Dong A University entered the finals. In the decisive match, the municipal Department of Public Security beat their opponents with a score of 3-2, successfully defending their championship title. Previously, in the third-place match, the University of Science and Technology defeated the University of Architecture 2-0.

In the women's category, the organising committee awarded the first prize to the Duy Tan University; the second prize to the Dong A University; and the third prize to Tran Dai Nghia Junior High School.

According to Mr. Nguyen Ba Duan, Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang Youth Union cum Chairman of the municipal Youth Federation, this is the third consecutive year the tournament has been held. The sports event aimed to promote the movement of physical training and sports for young people in the city, improve the quality of physical education, and build a healthy cultural lifestyle.

Through the tournament, the organising board discovered outstanding talents for the volleyball teams of units, schools, and clubs to participate in higher level tournaments.
