Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi highlighted that the Hai Van Gate national relic is a priceless common asset, and a symbol of the good cooperative relationship between Da Nang and Thua Thien Hue in regional linkage in general, and in the management and promotion of the value of the relic in particular.
Therefore, both localities together carried out the project on preserving, restoring and promoting the value of the Hai Van Gate with a total investment of more than VND 42 billion funded by the budgets of Da Nang and Thua Thien Hue Province.
Up to now, the project has been completed and open to the public. And, the next important and priority task is to manage, exploit and boost the most effective tourism values of this unique cultural heritage.
On the Da Nang side, the municipal People's Committee directed the Department of Culture and Sports, the Department of Tourism, the People's Committee of Lien Chieu District, and related agencies to closely coordinate with relevant agencies and units of Thua Thien Hue Province to effectively implement the regulation on coordination in management, exploitation and promotion of relic values.
At the same time, the focus will be on linking with historical and cultural relics of the Nguyen Dynasty and the historical event of the first battle against the French-Spanish coalition (1858-1860) to create a meaningful sightseeing route, and an attractive cultural-historical address. This will signficantly contribute to promoting the socio-economic development of Da Nang and Thua Thien Hue Province, becoming an indispensable stop on the "Central Heritage Road".

Work commenced on the project to preserve, restore and promote the value of Hai Van Gate relic site in December 2021. By implementing this project, the two localities of Hue and Da Nang have created a typical model of heritage restoration and conservation.
In addition, Thua Thien Hue Province has implemented activities to serve and attract tourists such as piloting a check-in platform and recording the presence of tourists at the Hai Van Gate national relic.
Currently, the two localities are offering 3D technology applications and free wifi at tourist attractions; rearranging traffic on National Highway 1 through the Hai Van Gate; and providing auxiliary items such as parking lots, public toilets and souvenir display spaces to serve visitors.
