In order to meet the entertainment and sports competition needs of local people, units and localities across Da Nang plan to organise many attractive sports activities and tournaments during Tet Festival 2025.

In particular, the Open Traditional Boat Race 2025 in Lien Chieu District, slated to be held on the 9^th day of Tet on the Cu De River, is one of the most anticipated sporting events of the year.

Last year, the tournament returned for the first time after a 4-year hiatus, attracting the participation of nearly 200 athletes from 8 male and female boat racing teams in Lien Chieu District and other localities citywide.

This year's boat race will be maintained on a similar scale, expected to attract male and female boat racing teams from the districts of Ngu Hanh Son and Cam Le; the communes of Hoa Lien and Hoa Bac in Hoa Vang District; and the wards of Hoa Hiep Nam and Hoa Hiep Bac in Lien Chieu District.

According to the tournament rules, the female boats will compete in 2 double laps, equivalent to 2km, and the male boats will compete in 3 double laps, equivalent to 3km.

According to Mr. Le Van Huong, Director of the Lien Chieu District Culture, Information and Sports Centre, the traditional boat race is an indispensable spiritual food for locals during Tet. This is also an activity with the meaning of praying for "national peace and people's security" and "favourable weather", and helping people maintain their health to work. Therefore, the organisation board strives to maintain the tournament every year in order to preserve and promote traditional cultural identity and values.

In addition to the boat race, to welcome the Lunar New Year 2025, the district has just organised a table tennis tournament with the participation of more than 100 athletes from 8 clubs in the district. The atmosphere of the competition has been exciting and attractive, meeting the people's need for sports and entertainment.

Along with Lien Chieu District, within the framework of the Tuy Loan Village Communal House Festival in Hoa Phong Commune, Hoa Vang District, a traditional boat race will take place, promising to bring many interesting experiences to local people and tourists. This is the most attractive activity of the festival, maintained by the organizing committee every year.

Mr. Tran Van Anh, a resident of Hoa Phong Commune, Hoa Vang District, shared "The Tuy Loan village communal house festival features many attractive activities. Notably, the boat race on Tuy Loan River is one of the festival’s most awaited events of the festival. Hopefully, this year's tournament will be attractive, creating conditions for people and tourists to exchange and connect the community".

To welcome Tet 2025, the Thanh Khe District Culture and Sports Centre plans to organize many tournaments, including a sports dance competition on the first day of the new lunar year, a Qigong competition on the second day, and a beach soccer tournament on the 9^th day.

Within the framework of the district's traditional 'Cau Ngu' (Fish Worshipping) Festival, many activities with strong folk characteristics of fishing villages will be held such as net weaving, fish carrying, and coracle racing.

Mr. Nguyen Duy Dong, Deputy Director of the District Culture and Sports Centre, said "The district focuses on integrating sports activities into the cultural festival to bring a joyful and exciting atmosphere to people in the first days of the new lunar year. Last year, the abovementioned sports activities were successfully organised, drawing much attention from a large number of people and tourists. The number of athletes, people and tourists is expected to be greater, and the professional quality of the tournaments will also be improved".

Son Tra District plans to organise many sports activities within the framework of the “Cau Ngu” Festival during Tet. These are competitions associated with the culture of the coastal region.

According to Director of the Son Tra District Culture - Information and Sports Centre Vu The He, the unique traditional spring sports are the highlight to attract a large number of people and tourists, contributing to preserving cultural heritage values, and promoting local tourism development.

Aside from localities, the city organises many attractive sports activities and tournaments such as children's football tournament, Tet golf tournament for the poor, the 2^nd edition of the Open Hanul Da Nang Taekwondo Tournament, and the municipal-level chess tournament for professional athletes.

According to Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Culture and Sports Nguyen Trong Thao, the sports activities during Tet promise to be attractive. The city and units and localities strive to organise a variety of competitions to create an exciting atmosphere of competition. In particular, the organisation of sports activities by localities within the framework of traditional cultural festivals will meet the entertainment needs of the people, contributing to promoting the development of the mass physical education and sports movement in the city.
