Attractive Da Nang basketball tournament for pupils
Hosted by the Da Nang Department of Education and Training, the basketball tournament for pupils during the 2024-2025 school year is taking place in an exciting and attractive atmosphere at gymnasium at the Bac Son Tra Culture and Sports Centre.

This is a meaningful and useful playground for local pupils, contributing to promoting the development of the basketball movement in particular and physical education and sports in the city in general.
This year’s tournament sets a record when attracting more than 500 athletes from schools citywide. Athletes compete in the categories of boys and girls according to the groups of primary, and junior and senior high schools.
In particular, the events of primary school boys, and junior high school boys and girls, see the participation of teams from the education and training offices in Son Tra, Cam Le, Thanh Khe, Lien Chieu, Hai Chau, Ngu Hanh Son and Hoa Vang districts.
In the male and female events of senior high schools, there are teams representing schools such as Ngo Quyen, Quang Trung, Ton That Tung, Phan Chau Trinh, Nguyen Van Thoai, FPT, Vo Chi Cong, Nguyen Hien, Sky-Line, Phan Thanh Tai, Tran Phu, Son Tra, and Nguyen Trai.
Over the past few days, matches in the tournament have been exciting, attractive, and of high professional quality.
In the primary school boys' event, the Son Tra District Education and Training Office showed high performance as winning 6 points after 3 absolute victories in Group A and won a ticket to the semi-finals.
The Office of Education and Training of Cam Le District came in the second place in Group A with 5 points after 2 wins and a loss.
In Group B, the Offices of Education and Training of Hai Chau and Hoa Vang districts earned tickets to the semi-finals.
Nguyen Huy Toan from the Son Tra District Office of Education and Training said “I am very happy to participate in the tournament. This is a useful playground for me to practice, improve my professional skills, and continue to pursue my passion for basketball. My teammates and I have been given good conditions by the teachers to practice and compete. The team is happy to have entered the semi-finals and we will make more efforts to win the championship. The opponents in the upcoming round are strong, so the team will try their best”.
Along with the primary school boys' event, the male and female events for junior high school pupils were also dramatic. The junior high school boys' teams that won the right to enter the semi-finals included the Offices of Education and Training of Thanh Khe, Ngu Hanh Son, Hai Chau and Lien Chieu districts. Meanwhile, the secondary school girls' teams from the Offices of Education and Training of Hai Chau, Ngu Hanh Son, Cam Le and Thanh Khe districts progressed to the semi-finals.
On March 25, the matches in the 1/8 round of the senior high school boys' competition took place dramatically, attracting a large number of cheering spectators.
The Hoang Hoa Tham Senior High School beat the Ngu Hanh Son Senior High School with a score of 50-34 to become the first team to enter the quarterfinals.
Mr. Nguyen Quang Quoc Cong, a specialist in charge of physical education of the municipal Department of Education and Training, said that the tournament lasts until March 28. It receives enthusiastic responses from schools and the Offices of Education and Training of districts.
According to Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Education and Training Pham Tan Ngoc Thuy, the tournament is a meaningful and useful playground for local pupils and offers a good opportunity for them to practice physical training to study better. The tournament contributes to spreading the physical education and sports movement among pupils in particular and the community in general. This is also the basis for the city to select excellent athletes for the basketball team to train in preparation for the Phu Dong Sports Festival and national tournaments for pupils.
