In his remarks at the opening ceremony, Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Le Trung Chinh informed that in 2020, the city decided to move the Da Nang Museum out of the special national relic of Dien Hai Citadel to the headquarters of the municipal People's Council at 42 and 44 Bach Dang Street, formerly the Governor's Palace built in the 1890s.
He underlined that this was a decision of historical significance marking a turning point in the journey of building, preserving and promoting cultural values bearing the imprint of Da Nang heritage in particular and Quang Nam in general. It received the active support and great consensus of the city's government and people, as well as domestic cultural and historical researchers.
Determining the renovation and construction of the Da Nang Museum from a particularly important historical building, the city's functional agencies conducted careful research to preserve the previous architecture in the most complete way, he emphasised. At the same time, the newly built areas are implemented in a modern architectural language, in harmony with the landscape, creating a unique and impressive architectural highlight along the bank of the Han River.
The project has met the functions of a modern museum with digital technology applications creating vivid visual effects, vivid approaches and interpretations. Interactive spaces connecting emotions and intelligence help visitors explore and experience for themselves. Facilities protecting artifacts are built according to modern conservation standards. Additionally, there are some areas to serve the needs of community learning according to world trends.
With the abovementioned changes, the new Da Nang Museum will become a bridge connecting events, milestones, cultural and historical values of the city with the present, thereby nurturing pride and love for the homeland, and contributing to synthesizing the endogenous strength of each citizen of the city on the threshold of a new era, an era of development, Chairman Chinh emphasised.

The project aims to honour the life and great revolutionary career of President Ho Chi Minh, as well as widely educate the tradition of studiousness, and fosters the spirit of learning and reading for the young generations, thereby contributing to the development of reading culture, and creating a red address for locals, and domestic and foreign tourists when coming to Da Nang.
