The discovery was published on the journal Organisms Diversity & Evolution of Germany.
Chinese scientists have also announced a new species of shrub frog named Gracixalus nonggangensis Mo, Zhang, Luo, Zhou & Chen, 2013.
Notably, the specimens of this new species were collected in Guangxi province, not far from the area where the new shrub frog species of Viet Nam was found.
