University of Illinois extends bilateral cooperation with local universities

On Wednesday, the president of the USA’s University of Illinois, Dr Robert A Easter, paid a courtesy call to the Da Nang People's Committee Vice Chairman, Mr Huynh Duc Tho, as part of his working visit to the city.

Dr Easter said that he was very impressed with the city's rapid changes over recent years, and had a high appreciation for the synchronous local education system.  He took the opportunity to share his experiences in bilateral cooperation and exchange activities between his country’s universities, and authorities and businesses in its partner countries.

The University of Illinois, which is one of the oldest and most famous universities in the USA, has strengths in medicine and pharmacy, and science in information systems.  The university is now home to 70,000 students and it awards around 20,000 degrees every year. 

During his stay in the city, Mr Easter will work with the city’s Dong A University to help the university enhance its capacity for research.  In addition, a Memorandum of Understanding will be signed to confirm bilateral cooperation between the University of Illinois and the University of Da Nang. 

Dr Easter said that his university is willing to boost bilateral cooperation with Da Nang’s universities.
