International Olympiads' medal winners welcomed home

On Monday evening, Vuong Nguyen Thuy Duong and Le Thi Nguyet Hang from Da Nang’s Le Quy Don Senior High School for Gifted Students received a warm welcome home at Da Nang International Airport from leaders of the city’s Department of Education and Training, the school’s Management Board, their teachers and their classmates.

Duong won a silver medal at the 55th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) in Cape Town, South Africa, which was held from 3 to 13 July.  Meanwhile, Hang received the same medal at the 25th International Biology Olympiad (IBO) held in Bali, Indonesia between 6 and 13 July.

According to information from the Ministry of Education and Training, a total of 6 Vietnamese students won medals at this year’s IMO contest - 3 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze.  At the IBO, all of the 4 Vietnamese students competing won medals - 1 silver and 3 bronze.
