The Asia-America Gateway (AAG) submarine cable, which was cut on July 15, will resume operation on 11:00 July 30, FPT Telecom said on July 22, citing sources of the cable’s operator.
The breakdown had reduced Internet connectivity of telecom providers between Viet Nam, Hong Kong and the US by approximately 40 percent. At the moment, AAG's cable repair team is working hard to repair the cable.
According to FPT Telecom, the cable was found cut 18km off the coast of Vung Tau City, at a depth of 19m.
The 20,000-kilometre cable, which connects the Southeast Asian region to the US, was earlier repaired from February 25 to March 3 this year.
