Award winners in district, municipal and international competitions honoured

The 16th Huynh Thuc Khang Talent Encouragement Awards Ceremony to honour Da Nang’s award winners in district, municipal and international competitions during the 2012 - 2013 academic year took place in the city last Saturday.  The event was jointly organised by the city’s Study Encouragement Association, the Department of Education and Training, and the Imexpharm Pharmaceutical Company.

In detail, 9 award winners in city-level competitions, and 23 others in district-level contests, were given cash prizes.  For the city-level honours, primary school pupils received 3 million VND each, those from junior high schools 4 million VND each, and those from senior high schools 5 million VND each.  Meanwhile, the 23 district-level winners received up to 2 million VND each.

Also at the event, Vuong Nguyen Thuy Duong and Le Thi Nguyet Hang from the city’s Le Quy Don Senior High School for Gifted Students were each given 3 million VND and Certificates of Merit in recognition of their notable awards in international competitions last month.  Duong won a silver medal at the 55th International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) in Cape Town, South Africa, and Hang also received a silver medal at the 25th International Biology Olympiad (IBO) in Bali, Indonesia.
