Thousands of university students begin new academic year
On Tuesday, Da Nang’s University of Technology held a ceremony to officially start the 2015 - 2016 academic year and to welcome more than 3,300 new students who passed the 2015 national senior high school graduation exams and enrolled at the university.
Also at the event, the University presented around 150 scholarships, worth 2.5 million VND each, to its outstanding students who had gained high marks in the national senior high school graduation exams.
During its 40 years of development, the University of Technology has gradually affirmed its position as the leading technical university in the central region and highlands. It has made significant efforts in its scientific research work, and has trained about 45,000 Masters graduates, engineers and architects who are now in important positions in society.
On the same day, the city’s University of Education also organised an opening ceremony for the new academic year.
To mark the occasion, the University was awarded an emulation flag from the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training in recognition of its remarkable achievements in implementing a programme to upgrade rural areas in Hoa Vang District. It granted 65 scholarships, totalling around 200 million VND, to its new outstanding students.
During the academic year, the University will welcome 2,022 new students on 29 majors. Most notably, students on the Applied Mathematics and Chemistry majors will have the opportunity to attend special classes taught in English. This aims to meet the demand for high-quality human resources in the context of the current global labour integration.
