Published: May 25, 2016

On Tuesday, a total of 329 pupils across Da Nang were honoured at the Nguyen Khuyen Junior High School for Gifted Students in recognition of their outstanding study results in the academic year 2015-2016.

In detail, 101 pupils from primary to senior high schools were awarded with Certificates of Merit from the Municipal People’s Committee (PC), whilst Certificates of Merit from the Department of Education and Training were presented to other 228 ones.

Over the past academic year, 50 out of the 73 local students who participated in the 2016 National Contest for Excellent Students won prizes.  They took one first, 11 second, 19 third, and 19 commendation prizes.

Most notably, 17 teams from robotics clubs in primary schools across the city participated in the Digital Campus International Robothon 2015 in Ho Chi Minh City in November 2015.  The city’s teams brought home 1 first and 1 second prize.  In addition, they also received 4 other notable prizes in recognition of their potential talents and 1 more award in recognition of their great efforts in the competition.

Municipal PC Vice Chairman Dang Viet Dung took the opportunity to highly praise local teachers and pupils for their great efforts in fulfilling their tasks well over the past academic year.

He also suggested that libraries in all local schools should regularly open their doors to their pupils during the ongoing summer vacation.  Importance should be also attached to encouraging local pupils to participate in more extracurricular activities, and to facilitating local teachers to relax and improve their professional skills during the summer break in preparation for the next academic year.

Vice Chairman Dung also remarked that all local pupils from primary to senior high schools across the city will learn how to swim, starting from 1 June.  The aim is to ensure that 100% of the city’s school pupils are able to swim in the near future.  Swimming courses at the 30 existing swimming pools in the city's schools and its service providers will be offered to pupils at maximum preferential rates during this summer vacation.
