Over recent years, Mahaska City has promoted multifaceted cooperation with Viet Nam, especially in education and training, labour, tourism and economy. The Japanese city and the Da Nang University entered into an education cooperation agreement in April last year.

Major Hagiwara Seiji promised that he would continue his efforts to foster the bilateral relations between the Da Nang University and Mimasaka City.  He added that this would in turn help to boost the bilateral ties between Okayama prefecture and Da Nang, and between Japan and Viet Nam as a whole.

Mimasaka’s city authority is planning to fund graduates from Da Nang University’s Nursing Faculty to study  Japanese language in a college of nursing in Mimasaka City which is expected to open in April 2018, for one year.

Since 2009, Da Nang University has presented an Honourary Doctorate Degree to 6 foreign citizens in recognition of their significant achievements in its research and teaching activities. This is the first time the  honorary degree has been awarded to a foreign politician.
