Smart city cooperation agreement signed with Viettel
Last Saturday, the Da Nang People’s Committee (PC) Vice Chairman, Mr Dang Viet Dung, and the Deputy General Director of Viet Nam’s military-run telecoms group Viettel, Mr Tong Viet Trung, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on building Da Nang into an IT-dependent smart city.
Under the MoU, Viettel will assist Da Nang to develop its master plans and detailed designs for a smart city model, with a focus on transport, healthcare, education, food safety and hygiene, the environment, energy and clean water quality monitoring. In particular, healthcare and education will be selected to be developed into comprehensively smart aspects in order to enhance the efficiency of their practical applications and improve the living conditions of local residents.

Addressing the signing ceremony, Vice Chairman Dung praised the great efforts made by the 2 sides in successfully building the first-ever smart city model in Viet Nam.
Over recent years, the Da Nang authorities have made every effort to boost information technology (IT) development and applications, as well as create e-government. The city’s e-government system has received high praise from IT organisations from both home and abroad. In addition, the city has received many notable international awards for its IT applications.
Currently, Da Nang is taking the initiative with its domestic and foreign partners to implement numerous cooperative programmes relating to building a smart city. Importance will be attached to attending many national seminars to find the best ways to develop a smart city in line with the global development trends.
