City busy upgrading its schools for new academic year

Over recent months, many primary, junior and senior high schools across Da Nang have been busy upgrading their facilities in preparation for the upcoming 2017 - 2018 academic year.

The Ton That Tung Senior High School is a typical example.  Four new specialised classrooms for teaching Chemistry, Physics, Biology and English are under construction at a cost of around 5 billion VND in total.  The focus has been on re-painting the school’s classrooms, upgrading its existing drainage systems, and buying 210 new sets of wooden learning tables and chairs.

Mrs Nguyen Thi Thao, Head of the Son Tra District Education and Training Office, remarked that the construction of new foreign langue teaching rooms, worth 280 million VND each, are underway at the Cao Thang and Hoang Sa junior high schools, and the Nguyen Tri Phuong, To Vinh Dien and Hai Ba Trung primary schools.  The construction cost was funded by the budget of the municipal Department of Education and Training.

Mrs Thao added that her Office has recently given suggestions to the Son Tra District authorities about providing new computers, projectors, photocopiers and sets of tables and chairs for local preschool, primary and junior high schools.  In addition, an over 137 million VND swimming pool will be constructed at the Ngo Gia Tu Primary School.

At the start of the 2017 - 2018 academic year, a new over 6.6 billion VND Vo Thi Sau Primary School in Lien Chieu District will get ready to welcome its pupils.

Leaders of the district’s Education and Training Office has recently asked the local authorities to accelerate the construction of some new schools in the district in order to reduce the problems of overload at the Trieu Thi Trinh, Nguyen Van Troi and Phan Phu Tien primary schools, and the Nguyen Luong Bang and Nguyen Binh Khiem junior high schools.

Mr Pham Dinh Son, Head of the Thanh Khe District Education and Training Office, noted “This year, the district authorities have spent a total of 1.5 billion VND on building 6 new classrooms at the Le Quang Sung Primary School, 10 at the Nguyen Trung Truc Primary School, and 3 at the Dung Si Thanh Khe Primary School.  In addition, 10 billion VND has been used to buy new sets of tables and chairs and learning equipment for these schools, as well as build swimming pools there.
