Over the past 7 years, Da Nang’s Hi-tech Park has been finding it very hard to attract high-quality human resources and new investment inflows, especially foreign direct investment (FDI).

Mr Doan Ngoc Hung Anh, Deputy Head of the Park Authorities, remarked “In order to attract more FDI inflows into the park, top priority should be given to developing an international-standard research and development system, with a focus on creating closer links between the Park, local universities and businesses in training qualified human resources”.

Mr Nguyen Xuan Dai, Head of the Planning and Investment Standing Board of the Park, stressed the need for the city authorities to give more financial aid for local universities and businesses to train high-quality human resources and conduct scientific research.  In addition, more preferential policies about attractive salaries, working condition and living environment should be issued to attract experts and scientists from both home and abroad to the Park.

The Head of the Park Authority, Mr Phung Tan Viet, affirmed that the focus should be on encouraging domestic and foreign universities and organisations to conduct scientific research into the Park.  The intention is to boost applied research, technology development and business incubator activities in the city to develop Da Nang into a key economic hub in the central region and Highlands, and in the country as a whole.

Early this month, the Park Authority and the University of Da Nang together entered into a cooperative agreement.

Under the agreement, the University will renew its educational curriculum and teaching methods in order to train high-quality human resources for the local Hi-tech Park.  Meanwhile, applied research and technology development, hi-tech business incubator, and training centres will be established in the Park.
