In particular, since the establishment of the Viet Nam National Museum of History in 2011 by merging the Viet Nam Museum of History and the Viet Nam Museum of Revolution, the club has become very popular with primary, junior and senior high school pupils in Ha Noi, and elsewhere in the country.

In Da Nang, the club usually organises numerous extracurricular activities at the Museum of Da Nang for local primary, junior and senior high school pupils every three months.

In mid-September, the club attracted a total of around 100 junior high school pupils from across the city in its interesting activities at the Museum of Da Nang.

Jointly organised by the Viet Nam National Museum of History and the Museum of Da Nang, this event had ‘Viet Nam’s renewal period’ as its theme.

The local pupils were introduced to national famous figures, historical events and significant changes during the country’s renewal period.  Then, they actively engaged in various exciting games, including crossword puzzle, in order to learn about their city’s remarkable achievements during the period.

In addition, these participants had the opportunity to experience how to use food stamps and stand in line in order to buy food during the subsidy period.  The food included rice mixed with cassava, sour cabbage fried with sliced high-fat meat, and salt-roasted peanuts.

Ngoc Han from the Trung Vuong Junior High School said that this is the first time she has taken part in a fascinating history lesson from the museum.  She added that the lesson here is more attractive to her.

Teacher Cao Xuan Hung from the Nguyen Hue Junior High School noted “These useful extracurricular activities help local pupils learn more about the difficult period of the country 30 years ago.  Through these activities, local pupils would treasure their current lives and make every effort to promote the country’s progress in the future.”

Mrs Nguyen Thi Thu Hoan, Head of the Public Education Office of the Viet Nam National Museum of History, said that the operation of the club in Da Nang has gained more success than expected.  She pledged that more exciting activities will be held in the city in order to help local pupils to understand more about the history of Viet Nam in the coming time.

Mrs Ngo Thi Bich Van, Deputy Director of the Museum of Da Nang, said that in addition to the ‘I Love History’ Club, her Museum usually organises many meaningful activities during the 2017 - 2018 academic year such as learning how to become museum guides and learning lessons from historical artifacts.
