170 poor studious pupils honoured
Last Saturday, the Department of Education and Training, and the Studying Promotion Association in Da Nang, together honoured a total of 170 poor studious pupils from local continuing education centers, and primary, junior and senior high schools across the city in the 2016 - 2017 academic year.

Addressing the event, municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh praised the outstanding pupils for their great efforts in overcoming their difficulties to gain good academic results. He asked them to continue their efforts to study hard and become useful citizens in society. He also took the opportunity to appeal for local government departments and agencies, businesses and generous individuals to join efforts with the city authorities to give more financial assistance to poor local pupils in order to help them overcome their difficulties and study well.

Also at the event, the 170 poor studious pupils received Certificates of Merit from the Studying Promotion Association, and the Department of Education and Training, plus a total of 195 million VND in rewards. Each of them also was given 500,000 VND from the city budget in recognition of the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival which will fall on Wednesday 4 October.
In addition, 5 of these pupils who had gained top marks in local universities and junior colleges they applied for were presented with scholarships of 5 million VND each.
