In detail, a team from the Da Nang-based Duc Tri Primary School successfully defeated their rivals in the Southeast Asian region to bring home the first prize in the VEX Elementary category.
Other city teams, the primary schools of Dien Bien Phu, Le Quy Don, Nguyen du, Hoang Van Thu, Phu Dong and Tran Thi Ly, received third prizes.
Held annually in alternating Southeast Asian countries, DCIR is a challenge for primary, junior and senior high school pupils to compete and learn about creative problem-solving skills.
Themed ‘Productively Chemlab’, this year’s event attracted a total of 139 teams in Southeast Asian countries. Of this figure, 40 were from Viet Nam, whilst the remainder were from the Philippines and Malaysia.
The event featured 6 categories, namely EV3 Apprentice, EV3 Veteran, EV3 Expert, VEX Elementary, VEX Middle and VEX High.
Under the competition’s rules, the participating teams were required to design, build, and programme robots. Their developed robots were also required to be able to execute multiple tasks and demonstrate a solution that is similar to what engineers might face. The contestants had to simulate groundbreaking technologies to solve their assigned complex problems.
