Local pupils win gold at SASMO
Two Year 5 pupils from Da Nang have won gold medals at the 2018 Singapore and Asian Schools Math Olympiads (SASMO).
They are Dang Van Thanh from the Tran Cao Van Primary School in Thanh Khe District, and Nguyen Huu Nhat Quang from the Phu Dong Primary School in Hai Chau District.
Jointly organised by the Singapore International Math Contests Centre and the TITAN Education Centre, SASMO is one of the largest Math Olympiads in the Asian region.
The annual contest is a good opportunity for Vietnamese Math lovers to exchange and compete with friends at the same age from such foreign countries as Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Cambodia, Myanmar, Brunei, Hong Kong, China, Mongolia, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, the UK, and Uzbekistan.
This year’s contest attracted over 28,000 contestants from 20 countries worldwide, and over 4,000 of them were Year 5 pupils.
