A total of Da Nang’s 47 pupils who achieved outstanding results in the 2017 - 2018 academic year were honoured at the 20^th Huynh Thuc Khang Talent Encouragement Awards ceremony in the city on Wednesday.

The Huynh Thuc Khang Talent Encouragement Awards were initiated by the city’s Study Encouragement Association in 1998. The intention is to encourage pupils to make every effort to follow the example of late Huynh Thuc Khang, a strong-willed patriotic scholar.

The event was jointly organised by the municipal Study Encouragement Association and the Department of Education and Training.

The honourees were 32 Year 9 pupils and 15 Year 12 ones. They received Certificates of Merit from the city’s Study Encouragement Association, and bas-reliefs on which their names are carved. In addition, each of them got between 2 and 6 million VND in cash depending on their achievements.

In his remarks at the honouring ceremony, municipal People’s Council Vice Chairman Le Minh Trung praised the honourees for their outstanding achievements, and encouraged them to continue their efforts to obtain better results in the next academic year.
