The 5th International Research Summer School event is taking place from 20 and 22 August jointly organised by the Da Nang-based Duy Tan University and British Council, which is the United Kingdom’s international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities.

The 3-day event attracts a total of 30 university students from Da Nang, Ha Noi, Quy Nhon, Hue and Ho Chi Minh City.

The School aims to enhance the academic research and careers of current or prospective postgraduate students who are developing their interests in academic research as a very stepping stone towards a successful academic research career.

The event features a series of academic talks on advanced research skills, including looking up and citing references and how to avoid plagiarism, write scientifically, present at conferences and write peer review for academic journals.

The participating students are also given tips on how to publish in ISI journals, use software in research and calculations and draft a response to reviewers.

Also, the participants access the opportunity to present and get feedback on their works in electrical engineering, telecommunications, computer science and control theory.

This is the fifth time that this annual summer school has organised. Over the 4 previous occasions, more than 65% of the participating students have been granted full-scholarships to pursue their PhD courses in the USA, the UK, Canada, Germany, France, South Korea, Japan and Taiwan.

The School is supported in part by the Newton Fund Institutional Link through the Fly-by Flood Monitoring Project under Grant ID 428328486, which is delivered by the British Council.
