The city's schools get ready to reopen

First to twelfth graders across Da Nang will return to school next Monday (4 May) after a three-month closure due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In recent days, all schools across the city have been busy cleaning up and disinfecting their classrooms and surrounding environment as a way of preventing the spread of the virus infection.

On Wednesday, teachers from the Son Tra District-based Hoang Hoa Tham Senior High School cleaned up all classrooms and school yard under the Ministry of Education's guidelines.

Mr Pham Tan Ngoc Thuy, the Principal of the Hoang Hoa Tham School, said that his school has prepared for enough hand sanitisers and thermometers before pupils return to school. He added both pupils and teachers would be required to have their temperatures checked and clean their hands before entering their classrooms, as well as to use face masks in their schools.

Also on Wednesday, the cleanups of the Nguyen Van Troi and Vo Thi Sau primary schools, and the Phan Chau Trinh and Tran Phu senior high schools, were already completed.

Director of the municipal Department of Education and Training Le Thi Bich Thuan said all schools across the city must strictly follow infection prevention and control measures under the Ministry of Health’s guidelines. All pupils and teachers are required to continue to stick to the recommendations of wearing face masks and cleaning their hands often, as well as refraining from gathering in groups during break time.

Director Thuan also remarked parking space would be rearranged to make sure that parents maintain a safe distance from others when they pick up/drop off their children at schools.
