Outstanding Da Nang natives, Huynh Van Quang and Nguyen Huynh Hoai My, both aged 29 years old, are highly qualified engineers working for large international tech corporations all software engineers ‘would die for’: Google Inc and Amazon.

Accessing such an professional working environment gives them many interesting experiences and helps them ‘stronger’ day by day.

In 2010, after graduating from the Da Nang-based Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Huynh Van Quang got a scholarship to study for a bachelor's degree in Computer Science at the National University of Singapore (NUS).

Having graduated from this prestigious tertiary establishment, Quang worked for a number of startups and large companies based in Singapore with many job positions: a back-end engineer who works on the server components of multi-tier web applications, and a dev-ops engineer who works with software developers, system operators and admins, IT operations staff and others to oversee and/or facilitate code releases or deployments on a CI/CD basis.

In 2019, Quang enrolled in a master's degree course in Computer Science at the Georgia Institute of Technology, is a technology-focused college in Atlanta, and one of the top research universities in the USA. Afterwards, Google USA contacted Quang for his application for a System Stability Technology engineer. At that time, Quang was looking for a job, so he quickly grasped this wonderful opportunity to apply for this tough yet interesting job.

After an online interview, on a break between two academic semesters, Quang went to the Google headquarters in Sunnyvale City, Silicon Valley, to participate in a face-to-face interview. Overcoming the recruiter's strict requirements, Quang was officially accepted and became a full-time System Stability Technology engineer at this world-renowned tech giant.

What Quang likes the most at Google is diversity. At Google, there are always people hailing from different continents, especially many Asian Americans of different ages and experience levels. In particular, the workflow is designed to be streamlined and highly efficient.

In fact, Google’s laid-back, creativity-facilitating environment is widely known, but working here can really give the staff a deeper experience of that environment. There is neither constraint nor pressure. The staff are able to do what they like in an environment free from restrictions and pressure from above.  It’s a typical feature of Google that everything comes from individuals, even ones of the lowest rank, and no limits are imposed by the superior.

Nguyen Huynh Hoai My is one of the first graduates in software engineering at the Da Nang-based FPT University.

After her internship in the third academic year, My officially became a full-time programmer at FPT Software Co., Ltd. After only about half a year, with her rich knowledge and experience working with foreign clients, and especially her English proficiency, My was sent to Dallas, Texas, the USA to work directly with a FPT Software partner: RamQuest, Inc., a Texas-based corporation that has been serving the title industry.

As a software engineer, My soon built up her career target of becoming a solutions architect.  Encouragingly, the talented woman taught herself more about cloud computing.

By 2016, My had become one of the first few Vietnamese people to receive certification  from Amazon Web Services (AWS), a subsidiary of Amazon providing on-demand cloud computing platforms and APIs to individuals, companies, and governments, on a metered pay-as-you-go basis. Also interestingly, she was also the first female programmer of FPT Software Da Nang to receive this highly prestigious certificate at that time.

As a solutions architect of FPT Software, My began to travel to the USA to conquer many projects for the sake of her company. In 2017, My was assigned to work with DigiKey, an privately held American company that distributes electronic components. Headquartered in Thief River Falls in the U.S. state of Minnesota, this company is the fourth largest electronic component distributor in North America and the fifth largest electronic component distributor in the world.

In 2018, My stilled worked as a solutions architect while studying for a master's degree in Computer Science at the Georgia Institute of Technology. A few months before her graduation, My was invited by Amazon Web Services Viet Nam to apply for the position of the solutions architect.

After becoming an official employee at Amazon Web Services Viet Nam, My focused on supporting small-sized companies and startups in Viet Nam to develop systems based on the Amazon Web Services- today's leading global cloud computing platform.

My’s work at FPT Software and Amazon Web Services has offered herself interesting experiences.
At FPT Software, My realized he fact that, possessing good skills, knowledge and foreign languages, working with customers from developed countries is entirely possible.

FPT Software helps My build her own foundation skills needed by the software engineer and solutions architect, whist Amazon Web Services helps her expand communications and enhance personal development.

Working at Amazon Web Services, My has many opportunities to meet leading experts in the IT industry. Staff here, regardless of their origins, are always willing for mutual support at work. Thanks to that, My’s vision widens considerably and understands that the world of technology is almost unlimited.
