The Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communications has urged municipal/provincial governments to promptly implement its instructions on using digital solutions for COVID-19 tracing and combating with a goal of helping the general public maintain life vibes in the new normal.

Focus is placed on encouraging the public utility of such highly-efficient apps as Bluezone, a Bluetooth-based app that helps determine if a person has come into contact with a COVID-19 patient, the NCOVI voluntary medical declaration management system, tools of monitoring people entering and exiting public places via the scanning of QR codes that can be read by mobile phones, and anti-pandemic mapping systems.

In particular, the governing bodies of places crowded with visitors such as markets, supermarkets, restaurants, parks, bus stations, wharves and hospitals must set up the so - called ‘checkpoints’ and create their own separate QR codes and get all arrivals to scan the codes when they arrive in order to help trace and stop the spread of the coronavirus.

The set of technology solutions for COVID-19 prevention and control was created on the motto “prevention is better than cure”.

Besides, the municipal / provincial authorities are required to work closely with the Department of Information Technology under the Ministry of Information and Communications for the effective implementation of the above-mentioned technology solutions.
