More than 13,000 Da Nang candidates who will sit for the upcoming 10th-grade entrance exams for the 2021-2022 school year, on Sunday, had their throat and nose swabs taken by local medical staff at the total 32 exam venues for COVID-19 testing.

The functional force measures the body temperature of candidates who will sit for the upcoming 10th-grade entrance exams for the 2021-2022 school year before the sampling at the Tran Phu Senior High School, one of the city’s concentrated exam venues, June 13, 2021.

During the sampling, all the tested people were required to stay in compliance with protective measures against COVID-19, including making health declarations, wearing facemasks, disinfecting their hands, keeping a safe distance from others, and joining queues whilst waiting for their turns to have their swabs taken.

The tested people were divided into small groups for sampling at different time frames in order to ensure social distancing.

In addition, they were asked to stay at home and limit their contact with others pending their test results.

All swab samples of these examinees were sent to the Da Nang Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC Da Nang) to test for the virus. A ’pooled test' of samples taken from ten individuals was performed in order to save time and resources. Simply put, instead of testing one person at a time, samples from ten individuals are mixed together, and tested as one. If the test comes back negative, everyone in the pool is clear. If positive, each member of the pool is then tested individually-thus cutting down on the total number of tests.

Candidates who did not show up at the Sunday sampling will be required to take their exams at backup isolated exam rooms earmarked at designated exam venues.

This morning, on June 14, candidates who tested negative for the virus were present at the concentrated exam venues to be briefed on the exams’ rules.
