COVID-19 tests on July 4, 5 for those involved in national senior high school graduation exam 2021 in Da Nang

The Da Nang Department of Education and Training has just issued an official dispatch on ensuring safety measures against COVID-19 at the national senior high school graduation exam 2021.

As planned, a total of about 16,200 candidates, invigilators and those involved in preparations and organisation of the exam will have their nasal swab samples taken for COVID-19 tests on July 4 and 5.

In detail, on July 4, sampling for COVID-19 tests will be conducted on all test takers, educational leaders, exam secretaries, invigilators, exam officials, inspectors, police, security guards, servicemen, medical employees and volunteers.

Particularly, those who will be on duty at Ngu Hanh Son District-located Vo Chi Cong Senior High School, which is exclusively for special examinees comprising of direct and indirect contacts of COVID-19 patients (if any), will have their swab samples collected at the Ngu Hanh Son Senior High School.

Candidates who will sit for the upcoming exam at the Vo Chi Cong Senior High School will get tested for the virus detection right at concentrated medical quarantine facilities or   their places of residence which are put under lockdown.

On July 5, the sampling for COVID-19 tests will be conducted on exam inspectors assigned by the Ministry of Education and Training and those who are in charge of transporting exam papers, test marking officers, backup invigilators police, security service forces, cadres and civil servants of the municipal Department of Education and Training participating in all stages of the exam and other related people.

The sampling for the above-mentioned people will take place at the Phan Chau Trinh Senior High School according to the prescribed time frames to avoid gatherings.

The municipal Department of Education and Training has planned to implement general infection prevention measures to handle situations when a candidate or exam worker shows COVID-19 suspicious symptoms such as fever, cough and shortness of breathing.

Da Nang is expected to participate in the first phase of the national exam which will take place on July 7 – 8 for safe localities as planned while the second phase will be held for those in hard-hit ones.

Twelfth-grade students in Viet Nam are required to participate in the annual national high school exam after finishing their study. The exam not only fetches learners a high-school diploma but also determines admission to universities and junior colleges.

According to the municipal Department of Education and Training, 12,716 senior high school pupils across Da Nang have registered to sit for the upcoming exam.

The organisation of the 2021 exam will remain basically the same as in 2020, according to the Ministry of Education and Training.

Specifically, in order to achieve graduation, high school students must take four tests, including three compulsory ones, featuring Mathematics, Literature and Foreign Languages, and a custom one in natural science or social science chosen by candidates.

For continuing education candidates, they will take three exams, including two independent tests of Math and Literature and a custom test in natural science or social science. They can also register to take a foreign language test to use the results for university and college entrance admission.
