Compared to the latest review in 2019, the country leaped 25 spots, ranking seventh in Asia-Pacific and fourth in Southeast Asia, behind Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.
Viet Nam earned an overall score of 94.59 out of 100, with improvements being recorded in all five pillars.
Of note, the nation obtained full score in Legal Measures and Cooperation. It received 16.31; 18.98; and 19.26 out of 20 points in the three remaining pillars of Technical Measures, Organisational Measures and Capacity Development, respectively.
According to the Authority of Information Security at the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC), the outcome is attributable to the efforts made by relevant agencies in the implementation of the four-layer model for information security, along with the building of a legal corridor on cybersecurity.
In the time to come, the MIC will continue to invest in a research and development (R&D) centre in cybersecurity and facilitate the creation of an ecosystem for products and experts in the sector, with an aim to improve the country’s cybersecurity capacity.
