On Wednesday, FPT Corporation, one of the largest information technology companies in Viet Nam, and the Thien Long Group Corporation (TLG), a leading stationery manufacturer in the country, entered into a memorandum of understanding to joint forces in FPT-initiated programme for supporting about 1,000 primary and secondary school graders nationwide who became orphans due to COVID-19 until they reach early adulthood.

Under the signed agreement, Thien Long will donate 5,000 gifts containing tools supporting learning, playing and creative activities, each worth VND400,000, to the eligible pupils in the next 5 school years, from 2021 to 2025.

During the signing ceremony, Chairman Truong Gia Binh of FPT Corporation said that the idea of establishing the FPT Da Nang Boarding School dedicated to COVID-19-caused orphans was initiated by himself on September 16, amid the fact that thousands of Vietnamese children lost their parents due to the fierce pandemic.

Mr. Co Gia Tho, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Thien Long Group Corporation affirmed, “We are very happy to accompany a large enterprise like FPT to contribute a part to helping disadvantaged pupils pursue their academic dreams.”

At the FPT Da Nang Boarding School, the beneficiaries aged 6 -18 will access accommodations, care and support, and general education training from FPT School and higher education training from FPT University and FPT Polytechnic, its vocational college.

These training courses at the boarding school cover such majors as technology, multimedia design, science, and more. The initiative, which would be carried out for 20 years, is worth over US$ 3.5 million per year.

Currently, the preparation in terms of facilities, personnel and training programmes, child care plans and nurturing schemes for the grogramme is being urgently implemented by FPT, the Hope

Foundation, in coordination with functional agencies and mass organisations.
