The Da Nang-based Ha Giang - Phuoc Tuong Mechanical JSC has won the first prize at the 16^th National Technical Innovation Contest for its ‘20-80 mm-thick steel plate bending machine’ solution.

The information was announced at the closing and awards ceremony of the contest held at the Ha Noi Opera House on Wednesday evening.

Four other solutions from Thanh Hoa, Quang Binh, Ba Ria - Vung Tau and the Ministry of National Defence also shared the first prizes.

At the ceremony, the contest’s organisers awarded prizes to 84 outstanding solutions among 539 selected solutions. Specifically, there were 5 first, 11 second, 23 third and 45 consolation prizes.

The prize winning solutions majorly were in the fields of materials; chemicals; energy; information technology – electronics; telecommunication; medicine and pharmacy; mechanics - construction – transportation; agriculture, forestry and fishery; and environmental resources.

The bi-annual contest was jointly organised by the Viet Nam Union of Science and Technology Associations, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Viet Nam General Confederation of Labour, and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee.

Its aim is to encourage creative labour in the community in order to gain new scientific-technological achievements and boost economic growth. Over the past years, outstanding solutions and products have been awarded and then applied widely in manufacturing and social activities to address current issues, thereby bringing high socio-economic efficiency.
